NIAF Media Forum with Keynote Speaker Sal Paolantonio at Villanova University: Wednesday, April 7 at 1pm

To celebrate the National Italian American Foundation’s (NIAF) 35th Anniversary, the Foundation invites college students majoring in journalism, communications, marketing and business as well as journalists of Italian ancestry and other media professionals to the launch of the Frank J. Guarini/NIAF Media Forum in Philadelphia.

ESPN National Correspondent Sal Paolantonio will keynote the April 7th luncheon. He will discuss the ways young graduates can reach the top echelon of their careers/positions. Sal will be joined by Villanova University’s National Champion Football Coach Andy Talley, former NFL player Vince Papale, NIAF President Joseph V. Del Raso, Esq. and the Foundation’s Senior Executive Vice President Matthew di Domenico, Sr. Student leaders from the Foundation’s student organization at Villanova University- the first of its kind in the U.S., will also be attending the event.

The NIAF forum provides an excellent opportunity for journalists to network with their colleagues while sharing advice and ideas with the up and coming generation of media professionals. Students will have the occasion to ask questions and interact with the guests. This event is also held in collaboration with the Foundation’s Sports and Entertainment Council.

Jovanotti at World Cafe Live: Sunday, April 25th at 7:30pm

Until now, American audiences have had to make do with mere glimpses of the brilliant career of one of Italy’s most famous contemporary artists, the Tuscan singer and songwriter Lorenzo Cherubini, professionally known as Jovanotti. Over the past twenty years his recorded collaborations with Michael Franti, Ben Harper, Carlinhos Brown, Sergio Mendes, and Bono, among other well-known names, have occasionally caught the ear of the adventurous listener. Delivering lyrics in a half-sung, half-spoken style that has something esthetically in common with a downtown reading by a Beat poet, Jovanotti uses the rhythm and the ricochet of consonants and catchy melodic hooks to create songs that are instantly accessible to an international audience.
